As part of the 59th anniversary festivities on July 17, 2014, Disney announced that the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration will begin in Spring 2015 to commemorate 60 magical years of the Disneyland Resort.  Specific details of the what will take place at Disneyland during the Diamond Celebration were not yet announced, but the 60th Anniversary logo was unveiled.

According to Michael Colglazier, president, Disneyland Resort:

It’s an incredible time at the Disneyland Resort as we prepare for next year’s Diamond Celebration. We’re excited to honor our rich history, to celebrate the incredible magic that fills our resort today, and to create unforgettable memories with our guests for many years to come.

As part of the 60th Anniversary, a new contest was announced that invites guests to share their favorite Disneyland memories with photos taken throughout the Disneyland Decades – 1950’s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 2000 to the present.  The Grand Prize is a trip to the Disneyland Resort to kick off the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration.  Here are the contest specifics:

  • Each week, through August 27, 2014, Disney will be asking for special photo memories from one of the aforementioned decades.
  • Guests are welcome to share a photo from any time in the 60 year history of the Disneyland Resort outside of the weekly, decade-focused inspiration prompts.
  • To enter, guests must post photos on Twitter or Instagram, using the hashtag #Disneyland60Contest by August 27, 2014.
  • Guests should indicate the decade in which the photo was taken in the description/tweet.
  • When the submission period is complete, Disney will select the top five photos from each decade and allow Disney Parks Blog readers to vote for the top photo from each of the Disneyland Decades.
  • Each decade winner will receive a Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration prize (to be announced).
  • One Grand Prize winner will be selected from among the winners of each decade.

The contest begins this week with photos from the 1950’s.
