San Diego Comic-Con 2014 began it’s 45th year on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 view Preview Night at the San Diego Convention Center. Once again, Disney properties Marvel and Lucasfilm both have a significant presence on the show floor at the annual pop culture event. Walt Disney Animation Studios also has a presence promoting Big Hero 6, and Disney’s ABC Television Network was present to publicize it’s genre related programs. Marvel’s booth focused primarily on Guardians of the Galaxy (opening August 1st), Agents of SHIELD (returning to ABC this Fall), and Disney Infinity 2.0 (which is initially focused on Marvel characters). Props from both Guardians and Agents were both available for photo opportunities. Lucasfilm’s booth prominently featured various new Star Wars related merchandise. As far as new programming, Star Wars Rebels, premiering Fall 2014 on Disney XD, was highly visible there. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ booth was completely dedicated to this November’s Big Hero 6, with a “Meet Baymax” photo opportunity and display of Big Hero 6 related toys and figures. The ABC Television Network had a large castle promoting it’s new and upcoming fantasy (and animation) programs Once Upon a Time, Resurrection, The Quest, Galavant and Disney Pixar’s Toy Story That Time Forgot.
